The Balancing Barn

The balancing barn completion last year was an incredible achievement for the Dutch architecture firm, MVRDV. Off the Suffolk Coast in England, you can go defy gravity in a fancy modern living space for $1,000 a night. Aside from its appearance and lacking compliance to the laws of physics, the coolest part was its concept explained by Winy Maas of MVRDV in an interview. The balancing barn is suspended to leave the nature beneath it unscathed and has reflective material to display the nature around it for the outside viewer. At the same time it symbolizes humanity’s ability to create something surreal.
