Barney’s NY Unveils Lady Gaga’s “Gaga Workshop”
“Barney’s will donate 25 percent of sales to the ‘Born This Way Foundation’, founded by Lady Gaga and her mother”
Just before midnight on November 21st, expect the unexpected, as Barney’s luxury flagship store in New York is going to go gaga over Gaga this Christmas with “Gaga’s Workshop”.
In an unprecedented move on Barney’s part, at midnight the department store will unveil the “Gaga Workshop” display windows and workshop exhibit that is expected to draw crowds reminiscent of a Lady Gaga concert, except these tickets are free!

“Partnering with her in this unprecedented collaborative way to create the largest and most all-encompassing holiday theme that Barneys has ever mounted is a thrill,” Mark Lee, Barneys New York CEO, said in a statement. “As a New York City landmark, we wanted to celebrate Lady Gaga as a fellow New Yorker and amazing talent.”
Move over Santa, in Gaga’s Workshop, her little monster elves will be making candy, toys, apparel, accessories, holiday collectables and a media library…all centered around the hit maker.
In efforts to build excitement…as if that was necessary, the collaborators have decided to release one new limited-edition product each day on the official website leading up to the opening of “Gaga’s Workshop.”
Wednesday kicked off the countdown with the release of the first item: a $15 hand-decorated cookie with an iced etching of Gaga.
Shoppers will have the chance to walk through Barney’s transformed 60th Street entrance and into the mouth of a giant monster type creature, inspired by Lady Gaga.
Once inside, it’s a Gaga holiday explosion, over 5,000 square feet creatively designed by stylists Nicola Formichetti, Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide Pierson who have assisted in creating exclusive gifts available in the workshop.
The setting is Santa’s grotto with Gaga and crew taking over the entire fifth floor to fill eight mini elaborately designed stores with Gaga goodies for days.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, “the products will range in price from $6 for stocking stuffer candy to a one-off pair of Gaga shoes for $4,100.”
The outrageous displays promise to be as outlandish as the visiting pop mega star; the jewelry store will require stepping into a giant spider and candies and cosmetics will warrant a trip to the “boudoir”…one that mimics one of Gaga’s favorite wigs.
Barney’s will donate 25 percent of sales to the “Born This Way Foundation”, founded by Lady Gaga and her mother.
The newly founded foundation will focus on youth empowerment by building self-confidence, fighting bullying, mentoring and career development.
The question on everyone’s mind is will Lady Gaga be at the unveiling? Inquiring little monsters want to know!
