Colorful Fall Fashions
“Designers are mixing bright and dark pieces for their autumn collections, and the art of color blocking never ceases to amaze!”
Who says that the art of fashion can’t have a bright future? Fall fashion has been transformed from its dark colored past into fascinating bright colors. The contrast of color in modern fall pieces proves that fashion is becoming more fiercely bold and designers are breaking away from old fall color traditions. Designers are mixing bright and dark pieces for their autumn collections, and the art of color blocking never ceases to amaze!
I was surprised to find a bright purple silk jumpsuit on the Marc by Marc Jacobs fall runway. Diane Von Furstenberg’s amazingly elegant soft orange skirts and blouses and DKNY’s eye poppin’ red cashmere sweaters were also exquisite. Sue Wong’s delicate yellow embroidered 1920′s styled dress and bright blue beaded dress highlighted her fall collection, literally! The floral pants in the Jil Sander fall collection left me absolutely speechless. Bright colored trench-styled coats are everywhere this fall- hence, the Marc by Marc Jacobs neon green coat I spotted on the runway; so much for those timeless Burberry signature coats. We have certainly come a mighty long way from the “goth” season, when such fashion houses as Yves Saint Laurent, Rodarte, and Givenchy made the color black the talk of the high fashion world in autumn 2008-09; I guess we can call that the period of high fashion “noir”.
Color blocking is the sassy new trend for shoes, accessories, and handbags such as Chloe’ bags with layers of caramel, dark brown, and a touch of Tiffany’s blue. I cannot forget those dangerous she-devil red fall Versace lace up booties nor those precious dark orange fall Prada gloves. The excitement of this new sassy color trend leaves the question of, “What could possibly be next on the high fashion agenda?” Hmmm, maybe all black pieces for the spring season collections?!
