Famous legends such as Audrey Hepburn, Lena Horne, Ray Charles, Cher and anyone else you could remotely consider a legend, have had their fame etched in Blackgama stone.

However, Blackgama announced yesterday that Janet Jackson has had been the most successful ad campaign to date.

The more exciting news is that everyone is ecstatic that the singer-actress-extraordinaire will be adding “designer” to her résumé.

Teaming up with the elite label, Janet Jackson will allow us to share input of her many passions – fashion.

“The art of fashion is one of my great passions,” Jackson said in a press statement. “I’ve worked for years to bring a collection into the world. Partnering with Blackglama is very exciting.”

We’re excited to see the classic and contemporary 15-piece winter accessories and outerwear collection which is said to include coats, vests, jackets, scarves and gloves inspired by the artist herself.

Obviously not afraid of the big bad boys at PETA, Jackson’s designs are in line with the luxury line’s infamous use of fur and Jackson’s designs will be accented in the brands signature mink and leather.

Blackgama’s vice-president of marketing, Mike McCrea says, “Janet was very involved in the design process and the result was an amazing collection of Blackglama garments and accessories that reflect Janet’s tremendous sense of style and fashion.”

Adding, “This is one of the most visually appealing and innovative Blackglama collections I have seen.”

Another “obvious” is that this collection will not be for the “purse heavy”, the line is definitely for a luxury market that frequent the Fur Salon at Saks or the Maximillian Fur Salon at Bloomingdales regularly…you know the type, but that won’t stop the rest of us from peeking!

For those not into the whole fur thing for inhumane reasons, please note that the Blackgama brand assures the consumer that all mink procured by their company originate from Origin Assured farms.
