Naomi Campbell Gets The Interview!

Very few people can do what Naomi Campbell can…find time to get her Diva on, work her supermodel status, and continue to be the fashion icon that she is, Ms. Campbell will now have to find time to edit.
Being named editor-at-large of the new Russian and German editions of Interview Magazine, Campbell will get to give her solicited opinion in a monthly column called “State of Mind”, interviewing industry insiders.
Campbell explains, “Being an Editor at Large is a new role for me and I’m very happy to be involved with such a prestigious magazine and one that I’ve worked with over the years. I’m looking forward to meeting and interviewing people who are passionate about what they do and learning about their interests, whether it be art, fashion, music or other creative endeavors.”
On newsstands today, fans and fashion aficionados will get a first-hand look at how someone so beautiful can be in another form of print. The German issue out today with Leonardo DiCaprio on the cover will give you an introduction. The Russian issue will feature Campbell’s first interview, but you’ll have to wait until January for that.
In an attempt to stand out from the competitors and fight the recession hitting the world of print publications hard, Interview Magazine’s Executive Chairman, Bernd Runge says, “Naomi is one of the rare personalities who is recognized throughout the world for her tremendous contribution to the fashion and creative world as well as her philanthropic contributions through Fashion For Relief.”
Can you imagine the contacts Campbell must have to bring the biggest names in fashion to the magazine…I just hope she doesn’t go easy on her “friends”, Interview is known for their up-front interviews! We expect Campbell’s bold reputation to take these personalities to the limit and give us some real insight and not the same old blah blah blah.
However, the press release promises that Naomi will regularly meet great and outstanding personalities for this in-depth feature interview.
Some may say that Campbell got the job because her boyfriend, Vladislav Doronin is the publisher…however connected or not, adding someone like Campbell to any mix would garner attention. In Campbell’s case, that attention would and probably will come from worldwide readers simply out of curiosity.
Other famous icon-magazine collaborations include Karl Lagerfeld who is set to guest edit the Metro newspaper in February for its “The World According to Karl” edition.
