New Regina Spektor Album: “What We See From the Cheap Seats”

Just last night, Regina Spektor announced via her Facebook Page that she has been working on a new album which is estimated to be out in May 2012. The album will be titled, What We See From the Cheap Seats, and this will be her first full length since 2009′s Far. The album was recorded over the summer with producer Mike Elizpondo, who has notably worked on Avenged Sevenfold and Maroon 5 records. Luckily Regina has promised to give us some teasers between now and May so we have an idea of what we’re getting. Although all of her previous work has had the same general aesthetic theme, the aesthetic that Regina Spektor has created for herself leaves a lot of room for change and progression.
In other Regina Spektor news, the queen of experimental indie-pop has also recently been working on music for a Broadway musical titledĀ Beauty- a supposed twist of Sleeping Beauty. The production has had a goal of premiering sometime before the new year.
Check out a clip of “Us” which is part of Regina’s ‘Live in London’ DVD released last year:
