One may think that with the insane amount of bizarre, but frequent visionary accomplishments The Flaming Lips have made throughout 2011, they may be slowing down for a little bit, but they are far from it. The Lips have been working on a collaborative album that has some names involved to make the indie public pretty darn excited. Perhaps the most notable, Bon Iver. But no matter who the artist, or what the band is that works with the innovative neo-psych band, it’s going to be interesting. Because one thing that The Flaming Lips undoubtedly do well, is to make things interesting.

As of very recently, frontman Wayne Coyne told Rolling Stone that Justin Vernon confirmed Bon Iver’s involvement in the record. The Grammy Award nominee has apparently already sent over a couple of tracks for the collaboration.

“Sometimes it just takes a matter of connecting,” said Coyne about convincing the various artists to participate.Wayne is still on the pursuit, still trying to get Ke$ha, Lykke Li, and Erykah Badu in on the action. Leave it to the man to come up with a group so eclectic no one ever would’ve thought they’d see the names together. Concerning the transaction between Coyne and Cave, Wayne sent a couple of tracks Cave’s way, and the Australian musician responded saying “Fuck it! I did something! Let’s see what happens!”

As far as the inside scoop with Ke$ha goes, Coyne apparently hopes to lay down some type of “weird rap” with her, also stating how similar the two are, in that they’re both “freaks.” As for Yoko and the Plastic Ono Band, if you are an avid follower of The Flaming Lips, you would know that they played a couple of New Year’s shows with them. They have also already recorded four songs with the band previously, so there’s a good idea of what their involvement will be. But as for the rest of the acts getting into the mix, we’ll just have to wait and see for the release, expecting to happen in April.
