Mary Kay’s Hot-Pink Mansion for Sale
Mary Kay cosmetics was the “it” long before MAC or Sephora was even a thought. The cosmetic line was designed by Mary Kay Ash, one of the first women to bump her head on the glass ceiling before branching out on her own to start a billion dollar empire 38-years ago.
American businesswoman and founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc, Mary Kay Ash passed away in November 2001. Thirty-eight years after creating her company, she is in the news now because her former residence is for sale in Dallas.
The 11,800 sq.ft mansion lives up to the very image of what Mary Kay was all about – pink. That’s right, pink is the basis of everything Mary Kay and she did not stop, even when it came to her home.
Pink was the trademark of the Mary Kay brand, and it was the norm to win a pink Cadillac through your sales performance if you were a bright shining sales star at the Mary Kay organization.
The mansion went on sale originally back in 2007 for $5.7 million; however, the asking price today for the mansion and the acre of land it sits on is a bit more affordable at $3.3 million.
With 8 baths, 7 fireplaces, and 6 bedrooms, the master bedroom is larger than some New York studio apartments at over 320 sq. ft..
The swimming pool area is something out of a pink Roman bath house featuring cabanas, statues, columns, and the opulence one finds in the best of mansion’s row.
Mary Kay was said to have moved out of the pink mansion designed by Dallas Design Group in her later years, and the new tenant preferred a more classical look and de-pinked the spot somewhat.
