Monica Lewinsky In The American Experience
Some scandals should just stay in the past and be long forgotten. One that comes to mind is the Clinton- Lewinsky scandal that rocked the White House back in 1998.
Not this time unfortunately. Thanks to PBS, the former 23-year old White House intern who Clinton said he “did not have sex with” and then admitted “to having sex with” is back on the front pages as the second part of the four-hour documentary “Clinton” aired last night as part of the “American Experience” program.
Keyword searches were surging for “Monica Lewinsky,” “Bill and Monica,” and “pictures of Monica Lewinsky” causing a whole lot of hoopla that surely helped boost ratings.
The current generation didn’t have the blue dress, cigars, and other silly antics stuffed down their throats for months during the Clinton- Lewinsky scandal, so it comes as no surprise that new interest would be generated.
Fourteen years later, we all have to relive the nonsense that shamed the American government for some and revealed how fallible a human being can be even if he is the Leader of the Free World.
We all know what happened to Clinton, but a lot of people were curious to know whatever happened to Lewinsky after being labeled a home-wrecker and opportunist.
In 2005 Lewinsky moved to London after the spotlight got too hot in America and pursued a master’s degree in social psychology before re-locating back to New York.
She has had many jobs since the scandal including handbag designer and surprisingly, a reality show host for the FOX TV show “Mr.Personality,” a show that had Lewinsky advising young women who were choosing men hidden by masks.
Until this week, Lewinsky has tried her hardest to keep a low profile; but something tells me her cover is blown, and she’ll get a chance at another 15 minutes (or longer) of fame.
