Rosanne Barr Is Running For President
Well, its official–Rosanne Barr is running for president. According to the Los Angels Times, the actress and comedian has filed the necessary paperwork and is seeking the Green Party’s nomination to be considered for the 2012 Presidential election. “I am running for Green Party nominee for POTUS. I am an official candidate. I am4 the Greening of America&the world. Green=peace/justice,” she tweeted. Her candidacy now puts her in the running with three others for the Green Party nomination that will be decided at their convention in July.
“We are very happy that Roseanne has put her hat into the ring and we welcome her to the competition for the Green Party’s nomination,” Scott McLarty, the party’s national media coordinator, told ABC News. McLarty went on to explain that the Green Party is excited to have “such a high profile candidate” getting involved with them, which they believe will attract a lot of attention. She gave us a little preview via Twitter of what we can expect from President Rosanne Barr. She is looking to set in motion a “#Europeanstyle”
healthcare system within the first 100 days of her term as well as absolving all credit card and mortgage debt.
So, what is the campaign slogan that will encompass all of this? “Vote for me, I’ll fix this shit! -Barr 2012.” Oh, yeah, that will about do it. In her campaign for President speech in May of 2010, Barr outlined her three-step program to a better America: the first step will be legalizing hemp and marijuana, secondly, alter the government demographics so more women are included, and finally and “most importantly,”–outlaw bullshit. The third step comes full circle to the first, as she claims this will inevitably cause war to disappear, as it is “largely a large load of bullshit.”
If you’re thinking this sounds a little brash–it does, but Barr apparently doesn’t have any delusions about her chances. “I will run until the convention in July in Baltimore-I fully expect Jill Stein 2b the nominee& I will support her, but til then-I’ll serve,” she tweeted. To be honest, hearing the State of the Nation being delivered in Rosanne’s high pitched and extremely annoying voice is the last thing I want to hear, but what do you guys think? Is anyone excited for this?
