Guess The Object: Andrew Miller’s “Brand Spirit”

From people to products, nothing escapes labeling. Everything is branded, marketed, and sold to the chain retail store, only to be consumed and disposed. Lather, rinse, and repeat.
In a fantastic attempt to remove brand names from everyday objects, artist Andrew Miller whites out the labels we see everyday, yet often don’t notice. He presents a fun, interactive project that challenges our brand loyalty.
The project, titled “Brand Spirit,” consists of objects that are all less than $10. Though you can make out most of the objects because of their contours, you may not be able to name the corporate company that produces each piece. A Sharpie, a Red Stripe bottle, Capri-Sun, Kleenex box, and Metro card made up the collection.
We were totally stumped trying to remember who makes Scotch tape. Hint: it’s Scotch.
Miller created a Tumblr account to chronicle the project. He is planning on posting 100 label-less objects throughout the year. Follow the account to quiz your brand knowledge. You might be surprised which familiar things look foreign without the label.
See if you can guess the brands below.
