The Five Year Engagement
The Five Year Engagement is a re-teaming of director Nicholas Stoller and writer/actor Jason Segal. The two previously worked together on Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Stoller was also the writer of The Muppets released this last year that Segal starred in. This movie will also be produced by Judd Apatow (Bridesmaids, Knocked Up). It releases, April 27, 2012.
The movie is about a couple who are having difficulties getting from the proposal part of their relationship to the actual wedding and marriage. Segal plays Tom, and Emily Blunt is his fiancé, Violet. Chris Pratt (Parks and Rec), Allison Brie (Community), and Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider Man) also star. As far as the cast goes for this movie, it is looking great so far.
The trailer looks hilarious, but what is more impressive is how the actual plot is so realistic. Couples do have to deal with the absurdities that go along with moving into a marriage. While it can be a drama-fest for some couples, others have to deal with the complexities of mixing the rest of their lives with this one day.
