Get Katniss Everdeen’s Look in “The Hunger Games”
With nearly a $20 million earning on just its midnight screenings, The Hunger Games is a clear hit. The popularity of the books and now the movie has created a huge excitement around the story and its characters. Even the beauty blogs around the Internet have jumped onto The Hunger Games bandwagon. Why wouldn’t they with beautiful Jennifer Lawrence playing the leading lady, Katniss Everdeen?
As Katniss Everdeen, the actress has many looks that you can replicate at home whether it’s her hunting braid or her primped-up Capitol ensemble (okay, I admit…I’ve read all the books and saw the movie at midnight).
Allure has broken down Katniss’s looks into four different categories: the chariot ride, the interview, the Games, and the coronation. Her makeup artist for the movie,Ve Neill, shared the makeup secrets for every look.
For the chariot ride where Katniss makes her debut as the “Girl on Fire,” she is sporting M.A.C. Eyeshadow in Orange. Orange eye makeup has been a pretty popular trend this spring. While you may do without the flames on your black jumpsuit, a copper lip gloss and a nice shade of orange on your lids is definitely an acceptable look to borrow from the Tribute.

The look that I would want to replicate the most is Katniss’s big interview where she is wearing a dazzling orange dress and her makeup is glowing, but isn’t overdone. The makeup artists used M.A.C . Eye Shadow in All That Glitters and Free To Be, which are gold and pink tones. Neill told Allure that the goal for this look was to make sure she looked “beautiful and youthful.”
Katniss’s look for the actual Games is a simple one. She sports the braid that falls to the side and is simply wearing Makeup Forever foundation. For our purposes, we probably don’t need to imitate the look down to the last detail because then we would need some dirt and fake blood.
Her final look is pretty decadent following the fashions of the indulgent Capitol. Katniss’s eyes are framed by peacock feather lashes and her lips are glistening with a peachy glow with M.A.C’s Pro Longwear Lipstick in Overtime.
