One of BANGSTYLE’s top 20 stylists, Oliver Szilagyi, was nice enough to answer some questions for us for the Featured Stylist of the week. Szilagyi is a session stylist based out of Munich and Vienna. He also started Germany’s first hair culture magazine titled 74 Magazine, The Hair Bible. The amazing editorial pictures Szilagyi continues to upload on his BANGSTYLE profile are what caught my eye and made him my choice for this weeks’ feature. He is incredibly artistic as well as innovative and was a true joy to interview. Check out more of his looks and our interview below:

BANGSTYLE: Why did you want to become a stylist?

Oliver Szilagyi: I became a stylist because my parents have a salon in Austria, and for me, it was clear I didn’t want to go to school anymore; so I tried out working as a stylist, and I started to love it.

BANGSTYLE: How do you promote yourself? Social Media?

Oliver Szilagyi: For me, it is not easy to promote myself; as a hair and makeup artist, you have to be very careful to keep the right balance between you and your talents. But with my Magazine 74, The Hair Bible, it is promotion enough!!

BANGSTYLE: How would you describe your style?

Oliver Szilagyi:  My style is very loud and expressive.

BANGSTYLE: Friendships with clients, do or don’t?

Oliver Szilagyi: Very dangerous; better to not!

BANGSTYLE: What styles are you sick of?

Oliver Szilagyi: Nude and normal boring looks; there is no fire in it.

BANGSTYLE: What’s next in hair?

Oliver Szilagyi: I love to work with wet looks or gel at the moment, but I’m not a friend of “ trends”; I want to be free and keep my mind free of do’s and don’ts.

BANGSTYLE: Stylists often double as therapists; has a client ever made you feel uncomfortable?

Oliver Szilagyi: Yes, especially when you work with celebs. Sometimes they try to put their waste on you. It’s uncomfortable when they can’t find the gap between slave and freelance.

BANGSTYLE: At home tips for us regular folk?

Oliver Szilagyi: Try out and have fun; don’t think too much about it. Be creative!

BANGSTYLE: What inspires you?

Oliver Szilagyi: Everything: people, nature, architecture, situations….. Everything; be open.

BANGSTYLE: Craziest client story?

Oliver Szilagyi: Many celebrity stories (but don’t want to talk about).

BANGSTYLE: Favorite part about being a stylist?

Oliver Szilagyi: That I’m free, and I can do what I want; everything is in my hand. I have my own hair magazine, my own agency, a hair shop; everything that I want to do, I will do!

BANGSTYLE: Least favorite part?

Oliver Szilagyi: Not having it take over my entire life, staying happy and healthy with my girlfriend; no more wishes or favorite parts.
