Bixby & Co. – Whole Food Candy Bars
Bixby & Co. is well on its way to reinventing the wheel, or in this case, the chocolate bar.
Winning the “Best Branding” award at the Philadelphia Candy Show this year, young entrepreneur Kate McAleer is taking a different approach to a long-time American sweet treat.
Committed to using whole foods and organic ingredients, Bixby & Co. is producing melt-in-your-mouth candy bars that get their inspiration from McAleer’s family and community, as well as her active, health-conscious lifestyle, complimented, believe it or not, by her time spent abroad in France and China!
McAleer’s drive comes from her great-great grandparents, Lillian and William K. Bixby, who she named the company after. According to the company website, “They lived an adventurous life with incredible devotion and commitment to family as well as community in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.”
The apple not falling far from the tree, McAleer opened shop in New York’s Hudson Valley a few years back and began to experiment with vegan and gluten-free concoctions made with half the sugar found in traditional candy bars.
The goodness isn’t only on the inside; remember, McAleer did win an award for branding, and the throwback 1920s packaging fits the company’s philosophy brilliantly. Having an art and design background didn’t hurt, neither did the fact that using soy ink printed on FSC-certified paper also won the company’s bars the Rainforest Alliance Certification stamp of approval.
Health-conscious on the inside and eco-conscious on the outside, Bixby Bars are all about passion for nostalgia but at the same time maintaining its sustainability efforts.
Flavors like dark chocolate, almonds, dried strawberries, and ceylon cinnamon feed your spirit with “Heart’s Delight,” while the “Whippersnapper” and the “Knockout” take you on an exotic journey of organic dark chocolate with wild Maine blueberries or dried Bing cherries and walnuts or peanuts with a touch of Tellicherry or Chipotle pepper.
Adding new flavors monthly, stop salivating and go to Bixby & Co. to try this new breed of candy bars!
