Minus the Bear Album Teaser

Some of the most diehard fan bases sit behind bands that aren’t necessarily ruling the charts. That should definitely say quite a bit about where the Top 40 is these days (or ever really) and speak volumes about what a strong work ethic can get you in music. Minus the Bear, one of the last surviving rock bands to come out of the Seattle area in the early 2000s (sadly the Blood Brothers and These Arms Are Snakes have called it a day), has one of the strongest contingents of fans in America. And for those fans, life is about to get a little better.
This week the band released a teaser trailer for their upcoming full-length album called Infinity Overhead. This will be the first new LP for the band since their OMNI record of 2010. If your mouth is watering for a release date, you’ll only have to wait a couple months more. August 28, 2012 will see the official release, followed by a tour, no doubt.
In the teaser, the band inserts pieces of studio sessions in between grand, sweeping landscape shots of earth. Deserts, oceans, forests, and any other major landscapes pop up in the teaser, which is somewhat fitting considering the band’s lyrics have always had a strong relationship with nature.
The album will be released on Dangerbird Records once again, but it’s yet to be heard what direction the band is taking the new material. For some, OMNI was a step in a direction a bit too pop-oriented. To some degree the guitar intricacies took a backseat to more melodic compositions, but that’s not necessarily a band thing unless the content is lacking. To me, never did it feel like they were cheating. In fact, much of the record took on a decidedly darker lyrical tone than previous Minus the Bear outings.
While the teaser doesn’t lend too many hints about the sonic direction of the band, chances are that they’ll be releasing a single in the very near future. You can checkout the teaser for Infinity Overhead below for the upcoming jam.
