Starbucks’ First All-Tea Store
I must say I am probably the one in a million who isn’t a big Starbucks fan. I know, I know…but perhaps they will win me over yet with their announcement of opening a location that will be all about tea!
Perhaps it’s a New England thing, but we on the east coast like our tea. When it’s cold outside, we reach for our tea; when it’s hot and humid, we throw some ice in that puppy and call it a day.
Seattle will act as the launch site, in Seattle’s University Village, a stone’s throw from Starbuck’s HQ, and I can’t think of a more perfect place with the type of weather they have. It’s no wonder they’ve been deemed the coffee capital of the West.
Opening in October, Starbucks has a sure hit. October is the month that kicks off the “I just want to snuggle” season, and what better snuggle bunny than a cup of tea.
The store will feature more than 80 varieties of Tazo loose-leaf tea; you know, the tea that comes in those cool looking tins with an explanation of why you should choose that particular flavor. There will be plenty of tea choices; however, Starbucks will allow customers to create their own special blend of tea at their debuting “blending stations.”
Unlike the typical grab-and-go coffee spot, this new concept will be conducive to a “stay and enjoy” experience; however, if you’re one who likes to “do it” at home, Starbucks will offer a whole line of tea-related paraphernalia to get you brewing at home.
A spokesperson for the company said, “This store is really a tea playground with a more interactive and engaging community…it’s very much about immersing yourself in all things tea.”
I really hope this goes over well because in order for me to become a Sarbuck-ite, they’ll need more spots like this.
