Bike-In-Theater Coming to Your City!
And now, here is a greener twist on a favorite summer past time. Last year, Manifold, a creative marketing agency, teamed up with Forking Tasty, a Brooklyn-based food blog and supper club, to take a unique and modern approach to the classic drive-in theater experience. Instead of a drive-in, they hosted a bike-in. Hundreds of bikers from all over the city joined together on the Brooklyn waterfront to watch movies and snack on food provided by Forking Tasty. The event was free and was the best way for New Yorkers to welcome summer after the long winter months. Bikers enjoyed their munchies while watching popular movies projected on walls of nearby buildings. The community jumped at the opportunity to celebrate bike culture and summer fun and had a smashingly memorable night. The Bike-In-Theater was such a success that Manifold is planning on expanding their Bike-In-Theaters to different cities across the country. Of course, New York City will get another event (after all, they were the original!), but so will San Francisco… but they need your help!
Bike-In-Theater created this adorable Kickstarter video (featuring the music of NYC’s own Cults!) where they explain how they need some help funding the events. They are looking to raise $24k to pay for permits, security, movie rights, generators, speakers, food vendors, and basically everything that goes into holding a free movie night in the city. Those who pledge money to support their Kickstarter will receive various Bike-In-Theater gifts. Make sure to check out their website to keep up-to-date on the upcoming events and how you can continue to support and enjoy this fun time!
They are keeping the location of the Bike-In-Theater events under wraps for now, but promise that the mystery will only add to the fun! Who knows, maybe if they reach the Kickstarter goal quickly, and San Francisco and New York City get to have a successful Bike-In-Theater night, the event could be coming to YOUR city next summer! Sounds like a lot of fun, and a great FREE way to spend your Summer evening.
