Celebrate Summer With These Hot Looks
Summer is always a cruel season built up by our wild imaginations to fill the void left by the previous three seasons. And while the months of June, July, and August bring longer days, vacations, and a more carefree attitude, they always end too quickly and never fulfill the moments we dreamed up during the cooler months.
We’re not the only ones scratching our heads that Independence Day is mere days away — leaving us scrambling to the nearest American Apparel for their latest red, white, and blue attire. (Los Angeles residents, I have dibs on the U.S.A. crop top.) But there are still two glorious months left of this celebrated season — just enough time to plan some memorable moments and make this the best summer of your life.
It is important to look good while taking advantage of the fleeting summer season. Put on your sunblock, and take a peek at these hot, hand-picked looks for the sun-filled festivities ahead.
MUSIC FESTIVAL

What’s summer without pillaging a field, tent in toe, ready to dance your ass off for three days? The summer music festival is part of global culture, with festivals popping off from Japan to Croatia to Chicago (and everywhere in-between). We’re pretty seasoned when it comes to festival preparation — and a blog-worthy get-up takes priority for trendy festival-goers.
Our advice: KEEP IT SIMPLE. If we see one more pair of Jeffrey Campbell Litas speed-trekking through two-inches of mud to catch some DJ in the dance tent, we might throw in the towel on these events. It’s easy to look cute without looking like you are trying too hard. A simple sun dress with an easy-to-remove denim shirt or jacket is the way to go. Also, wear shoes like Keds or combat boots to cover those toes. Music festival rule #1: Protect thyself from trashcan behavior.

PARTY IN THE PARK

It’s Sunday, so we’ll see you in the park. Even if it isn’t Sunday, start planning your next weekend picnic because there is no better way to enjoy the warm weather than with beverages (mainly the alcoholic kind), friends, and a sizzling outfit. That’s right, that mini grill you brought isn’t the only thing getting hot in the park. Show a little leg, let your hair down, and don’t be afraid to get a little dirty in the great outdoors.
Anything high-waisted is a park “do,” as in, “Don’t mind if I do have a second beer.” Those short shorts will give your belly a little wiggle room if you have one too many, and it will keep you socializing without worrying about a muffin top. Add in a sexy season blouse and some flatform sandals (that’s an even platform), and you won’t be the only one saying “I do” for long.

CRAZY PANSEXUAL DANCE PARTY

Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side. Summer is, after all, a time to let loose, open your mind, and let your freak flag fly. Here in Los Angeles, there is an insane monthly dance party called A Club Called Rhonda. But this summer, the events have been happening weekly, and Angelinos can’t get enough of a the sassy figure behind these “pansexual” dance parties. Bringing in some of the best DJs from around the world, there is nothing like a wild summer night spent with Rhonda.
At these kind of parties, anything goes. Whether you want to look like a 90s raver from Berlin or a Powder Puff Girl, this is a judge-free setting — and you must bring your best carefree summer ‘tude. Our only tip — throw a little sparkle in. Glitter, face-gems, bedazzled accessories, and sequins are always a step in the right direction. Speaking of step, bring your heels (that’s to women and men).
