Olive Oil Hair Mask
Between heat styling, teasing, and hair product use, we put our hair through a lot. With all that we do to our hair, it tends to get dry, dull, and damaged, especially in the summer season when environmental factors also work to dry it out further. For healthy looking and healthy feeling hair, we have to work in extra steps into our beauty routines to keep our locks moisturized.
A great option for restoring shine, moisture, and overall health into damaged hair is using a hair mask once a week. Simply apply the hair mask to you hair and scalp, cover it with a shower cap, and sit back and relax for about 30 minutes before washing it out. Not only does this give you 30 minutes to relax and de-stress, but during that time your strands are getting conditioned back to health. Hair masks have many benefits like restoring shine in dull hair, promoting hair growth, and preventing split ends.
Luckily, this isn’t another hair product that we have to break the bank to purchase since there are simple recipes using household items to make an effective hair mask. The key ingredient in these DIY hair masks is, of course, olive oil, the miracle beauty product. Olive oil is one of the best products to bring back some moisture in your hair, as well as shine and strength.
Here is a recipe for a great at-home hair mask:
1 Egg Yolk
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon Honey
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
First, mix together the olive oil and the honey, adding the egg yolk once the mixture is even. Add the lemon juice last, and make sure it is mixed in well. Cover your hair in the concoction, and massage it into your scalp to stimulate hair growth and reduce dandruff. Cover your hair with a shower cap; then put your feet up and relax while it soaks in. The olive oil, honey, and egg will be doing their part to condition your hair, and the lemon juice will help with shine. You can play around with the recipe by adding mayonnaise and avocado for more moisturizing ingredients.
