Beauty Looks From Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week
In my imaginary life I would’ve spent the beginning of this month (or hey, the entire summer) in Paris sitting front row at every designer’s runway show for the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. Unfortunately, my real life and imaginary life have very little overlap and my July was spent in a far less glamorous way. Though I was not rubbing elbows with the fabulous people at the runway shows, I did get to keep up on all the looks and styles from the best shows thanks to the lovely Internet. Of course haute couture shows don’t necessarily provide looks that we can copy exactly because there is quite a disparity between street style and couture fashions, but we can get inspired from the many daring looks that come down the runways.
Here are some great makeup and hair looks from Paris Fashion Week to get you inspired:
Jean Paul Gaultier
This bold look is from Jean Paul Gaultier’s haute couture show. Gaultier is always a good designer to turn to if you are searching to get inspired by edgy looks. The runway featured a lot of contemporary takes on the 19th century and a lot of black. Of course these dark and powerful looks were complemented by dark and powerful makeup, like this dark rimmed eyeliner and bright, red lip. For everyday wear this complete makeup may be a bit of an overkill, but this look is definitely inspiration to get a little more edgy on your makeup.
Chanel’s runway was full of silvers and pinks, from the tights that covered the models legs to their shimmery eyelids. This pink and silver color scheme is a great makeup look. Like the Gaultier look this Chanel makeup style is done with a heavy eyeliner. Instead of rimmed eyeliner, make a thick liquid liner sweep across your lid and brush on some silvery gray shadow. The lips have a peachy nude color to only slightly brighten up a natural lip. The finishing touch of this look is the natural pink blush on the cheeks.
Usually haute couture makeup doesn’t give us appropriate daily makeup looks but the Elie Saab looks were an exception. All the models on the runway had fairly natural makeup and braided hair. This is a great look to emulate and the winged liquid liner won’t leave you feeling overdone. Be sure to get a perfectly natural pink lip gloss and natural pink blush to accompany the winged liner.
