Snuggery: Hire Someone to Snuggle With
Sometimes the only way to feel better after a long, crappy day is by engaging in a nice, innocent cuddle session. Man, even a simple HUG will do some days! But unfortunately, it isn’t always easy to find somebody willing to wrap you in their embrace, resulting in a quick descent into Bummerville, USA. But, if you live in upstate New York, you are in luck! Twenty-nine-year-old Jackie Samuel has just started a new business, and it’s called “The Snuggery.” Yeah, you can hire HER to snuggle with you.
If you mosey on over to her website, you will see that she is all ready to answer your questions, first and foremost being “Why Snuggle?” Her answer: “Quite simply, because it feels good.” Samuel explains that there are many studies that show cuddling reduces stress and lowers blood pressure. More information from her website:
“My philosophy is both personal and evidence based. I studied at the University of Rochester where I received a Bachelors Degree in Brain and Cognitive Science. I’m presently completing my Master’s Degree in Social Work. I am also an advocate of horticulture therapy and have been dedicated to alternative healing techniques for years.
“I am passionate about touch. I’ve traveled all over the world, interacted with diverse cultures, and noted that Americans distinctly lack non-sexual touch. I understand the role touch plays in our sense of well-being and overall health.
“My philosophy embraces the idea that we are all aspects of the same self—to be a healer is to be healed. When we cultivate or nurture something outside ourselves, we’re nurturing what’s inside as well. Touch can breach the perceived separation and provide us with a healing connection.”
I mean, it sounds pretty cool, although I don’t know how I’d feel about cuddling with a stranger. She seems pretty adamant that there is nothing sexual about her business, but I can’t help but wonder if she’s already come across some mega-weirdos who assume “cuddle” is synonymous with “f*ck buddy.” Her rates are $50 for a 45 minute session, $60 for a 60 minute session, and $90 for a 90 minute session. I’m not sure if those rates are fair or not, since the most I’ve had to pay for a cuddle session is a trip to Burger King for a Bacon Sundae and maybe a Redbox rental (AMIRIGHT, GUYS!?).
Samuel opened for business last month but only has a few clients so far. So if you’re looking for a cuddle buddy (NO FUNNY STUFF!) and you live in near Rochester, NY, why not give her a call? Yaknow… for your heart…
