Alexa Chung Stuns In Maje’s Fall Campaign

When she’s not hosting shows, DJing, designing clothes, or interviewing celebrities for Vogue, our BANGSTYLE 2011 style icon is doing what she does best: modeling. Alexa Chung was announced as the face of French label Maje’s fall campaign earlier this month, and now they’re giving us a sneak peek of the soon-to-be-unveiled campaign. Merci mille fois!
The photos prove, yet again, that Chung is the ultimate muse of Europe’s hottest designers. Following other vintage-inspired campaigns for Vero Moda and Superga, another label wants to cash in on the model’s classic beauty. And Chung absolutely stuns. Shot by Glen Luchford, she is photographed in a train on the Porte des Lilas subway station in Paris, wearing clothes that resemble something out of a Hitchcock film. The monochrome photographs add to Maje’s throwback, high-fashion aesthetic, and Chung nails the “damsel in distress” pose.
Choosing Alexa Chung for the campaign was a smart move for an edgy label like Maje. The brand is relatively unknown outside of France, but Alexa Chung is an international superstar. Her bad-ass “It Brit” persona, along with her tendency to dress like a grandmother, are a good fit for the moderately priced label that sells lots of leather, yet stays modest with the fit. Looks like Chung has met her match following her successful stint as a Madewell girl, although we hope she continues to design clothes for J.Crew’s cooler sister brand on the side after Solange Knowles gets her chance this year.
The high-art, film noir feel of the Maje shoot indicates that this popular vintage trend that has been sweeping the blogosphere is only getting stronger. Anything looks good on Chung, but we have a feeling that a huge wool skirt and chunky sweater would not flatter most figures. Oh, to be a young fabulous DJ, writer, host, designer, model! Our love for Alexa is maje-jor!
