Campbell’s “Hipster-Inspired” Soups

This is totally news to me, but Campbell’s has been scrambling to revamp their marketing strategies for their products. Apparently, the company is trying to increase their popularity and revitalize thelove of creamy liquid-based meals. Awww, Campbell’s!! I’ve always loved you!! You didn’t have to change for me, baby! But apparently, you had to change for other people…
CEO Denise Morrison has decided to take a different approach to how the company presents itself and began to look beyond the red and white soup can packaging. Aided by a team of strategic marketing execs, they took to the streets of younger, hipper cities like Austin, Portland, and San Francisco. They scoped out the local dining scene, checked out some food trucks, and even went as far as to check out the home-cooking of some of the locals. The information gained resulted in a whole new range of products from Campbell’s that go far beyond the realms of condensed soups. Apparently, it’s all thanks to the hipster cities they visited. Hipsters saved Campbell’s? Is Andy Warhol happy about this? Will Campbell’s now be sold in Urban Outfitters?
One of the newer, “hipper”products Campbell’s has come up with are both soups and skillet sauces packaged in pouches called “Campbell’s GO!” The idea is that you can just throw the pouch right into a pot of water, boil the contents within the bag, serve, and enjoy. Sounds like fun. The packaging features excited young faces printed in black and white, with lots of what looks to be hand-drawn notes and scribbles promising the buyer a delicious meal. Hipsters! They saved Campbell’s, and they love to draw on things! Surely they will buy these fun, hip pouches of liquid!
But in all seriousness, the new Campbell’s Go! sound pretty delicious. They offer flavors like Coconut Curry with chicken and shitake mushrooms and Creamy Chipotle with roasted corn and black bean sauce. Right up my alley, compared to the old standbys like Cream of Broccoli or plain old Chicken Noodle! …Wait… Does that make me a hipster? Oh no…
