Italian Duo Cecile & Refleksie’s “First Sparkle” MP3

Milan’s future disco duo Cecile & Refleksie released a gleaming new track this week. “First Sparkle,” the original mix along with remixes, was released on Modular Recordings’ endeavor Club Mod, “an eclectic, roughly monthly series in the name of dance.” Modular has long supported some of the world’s best electronic acts including The Presets and Cut Copy, as well as promoted electronic dance music through their Modcast.
“First Sparkle” is a nu-disco gem from DJs, proving yet again that electronic music is better when produced by a pair. The song premiered on Spin which explained it brilliantly as, “a chorus cribbed from 1950s easy-listening dapples disco breaks and a snaky acid bass line like sunlight penetrating the heart of the rain forest.” Sure, this might sound like an over-dramatization of a simple disco tune; but with one listen, you’ll be transported to the tropics. You can stream the entire mix on Spin.
The release is available on vinyl and digital formats and includes a B-side, another magical song called “Your Eyes,” produced solely by Cécile. The Italian duo had a little remix help from their friends Fred Cherry and Sweden’s Axel Boman.
As the popularity of dance music spreads and heads in different directions, one exciting genre is steadily rising up from the underground. Disco, deep house, future music — these throwback sounds are giving new weight to electronic dance music with a sound that is derivative of the genre’s earliest roots. For every superstar DJ like Skrillex, there are hundreds of producers honoring the source of their own love for this kind of music. Club Mod marks the revitalization of disco, bringing progressive music back into dance clubs everywhere. We approve!
