Conan O’Brien Spoofs Over Apple and Samsung Feud
Conan O’Brien has been heralded as the late night host of our generation, surpassing predecessors like Jay Leno and David Letterman in popularity with the “younger” crowd. Part of the reason Conan’s show is so appealing, despite it broadcasting on TBS, is because of his smart and witty satires on the world’s most popular celebrities and brands.
In his latest spoofing riff, Conan and his team have created a video lampooning the current feud between Apple and Samsung, who is denying claims from Apple accusing them of stealing software from the illustrious iPhone.
The video does a hilarious job of pointing out the obvious flaw in Samsung’s denial, demonstrating that most of the personal electronics Samsung has manufactured looks almost identical to all of the Apple products, including their Galaxy phone and tablet.
While the real life feud really concerns itself over software unseen by the average user, Conan’s spoof just further highlights the fact that in the game of cell phones and electronics in general, Apple wins every time.
They took the joke one step further by having a guy from Team CoCo star as Samsung’s VIP, Nick Wood, who not only narrates the video but slowly transforms into a Steve Jobs look-alike. He then introduces the “founder” of Samsung, dubiously named Stefan Jobes, using a picture of the real Steve Jobs with a blonde wig photoshopped onto his head.
The video is much more interesting than the actual feud, which is a boring argument between two huge conglomerates that won’t affect the public at all in the long run. Conan’s ability to perceive the irony in the battle, though, and his parody of it proves once again that he has some comic chops that leave him battling for a crown of his own, in the art of comedy.
