MIKA Releases “Celebrate” Video Ft. Pharrell
British singer-songwriter Mika is back with modern pop gem “Celebrate” featuring Pharrell Williams, and the song makes us want to do just that. An upbeat dance tune, “Celebrate” is pulsing with Mika’s electric personality. Add superstar Pharrell into the mix, and this is one of the hottest pop songs of the summer (sorry, Carly Rae Jepsen!).
“Celebrate” is the first single off of Mika’s highly-anticipated forthcoming album, The Origin of Love. Referred to as a “DIY labor of love” by a press release, the latest album is completely self-created by Mika himself — with a little help with some of his talented friends. Names that appear on the album include Nick Littlemore, Pharrell, William Orbit, Benny Benassi, FrYars, Greg Wells, Klas Ahlund, and some brand new unsigned musicians he found himself online.
“Written by me, Pharrell, and Fryars and produced by Nick, this kind of collaboration is only possible when everyone throws themselves into it wanting to have fun and without any ego,” Mika says of the track. “This collective and open attitude was at the heart of The Origin Of Love. It’s an album about crazy love songs and tolerance.”
The song is already a huge hit in Europe, and Mika had the honor of performing it in London at the Olympics. A video was released this week to accompany the single. As thrilling as the track itself, the music video follows Mika as he writes the song and dances in a club full of people. We want to party with Mika, and you will too when you view the video below.
Mika spent 2010 and 2011 on a global tour and will head out again this fall for soon-to-be-announced North American dates. With over eight million records sold and several awards earned for his previous two releases (Life in Cartoon Motion and The Boy Who Knew Too Much), there are countless reasons to celebrate Mika — we’re just glad he’s letting us RSVP.
