We had a chance to talk to Bethany Struble, full-time mother by day and fashion blogger by night, about her personal style blog, Snakes Nest. Bethany started Snakes Nest about two years ago, and it evolved after she used blogging as a platform to feature her photography and also spent time on lookbook.nu. She combines photography shot by her boyfriend and fashion on Snakes Nest, which features her different outfits and styles that are all clearly influenced by the laid back feel of Los Angeles.
Snakes Nest, with its photo-heavy content, is a great blog for aspiring fashion bloggers to look to. Bethany has had the opportunity to work various fashion events and collaborate with brands that are all featured on her blog. The key to her success is that she believes the basis of all successful style bloggers is passion. “If you’re passionate about fashion and blogging, the readers will see that and want to dig deeper.”
Within each photo on Snakes Nest, there is a clear dynamic between the fashion look and the location. Bethany finds inspiration for her looks from her surroundings, and many of the photographs are taken in different Los Angeles neighborhoods with “cool textures and colors.”
Bethany’s talent and passion is clear, with each photograph on her blog carefully and expertly styled down to the accessories and hairstyles. Her long hair that is so iconic of California girl style is kept in check with BANGSTYLE conditioner, which she uses to detangle her hair. She also loves the BANGSTYLE sea salt spray, which once again is a testament to her California roots. While Bethany loves the short, whispy hairstyles that are trending right now, like so many ladies out there she exclaims, “I don’t think I’m brave enough to chop my hair off!”
Though she has had a lot of success with her style blog, she still aspires to do more. Bethany hopes to get to collaborate with some of her dream labels like Acne, Marc Jacobs, Phillip Lim, and Chloe. She also aspires to one day create a lingerie line. But beyond her personal success in the fashion industry, she hopes that her blog is making a positive impact on its readers. “If I inspire someone by the way I dress, that’s awesome; but if I inspire someone by my attitude about life, that’s even better!”
Between Bethany’s success and passion in style blogging, her clear devotion to being a mother, and her easy-going demeanor, she is a clear inspiration to us all.
