0 Meet Shelly Wilson, BANGSTYLE community member and talented hairstylist based in Chicago. Since we are always on the lookout for some hairspiration, we wanted to get Shelly’s advice and input on a current hair trend. Shelly chose to highlight short hair cuts, which she showed us in her inspiration collection titled “Short, Chic, & Sophisticated.” Of course, we had to ask her a few questions on the hair trend and how to wear it!
Shelly explains the cropped cuts as a part of the “gender-bending fashions that have been progressing over these last few years.” She tells us that short hair with an androgynous style is a bold, eye-catching look. But Shelly, how do we wear it?!
“Shorter haircuts can be very versatile. Lots of texture allows for a lot of movement. Feel free to make it a little more feminine or masculine to cater to your own personal style and look. Go for a tousled, disheveled look or get those blow-dryers out and work towards a sleeker style. Flat wrapping with a flat brush always gives a nice shape to the cut. Use a smoothing serum to leave it sleek, or add some pliable styling product to release the texture. “
With a few words of wisdom that should be plastered all over salons everywhere, she reminds us that it is worth taking the risk cutting our hair.
“While hair is very dear to all of our hearts–it’s hair. It grows and can be altered. So, rock out those short locks.”
