Daryl K’s Exclusive Line for Urban Outfitters
It’s hard out there for a 20-something in 2012. We all have expensive taste and city dreams after growing up on a steady diet of Sex and the City, but it’s likely that our lives bear closer resemblance to Lena Dunham’s on Girls than anything that has Sarah Jessica Parker as the star. All of these designer dreams don’t have to end as soon as reality sets in. Sure, it is unlikely anyone will be strutting down 5th Avenue in Manolo Blahnik’s finest anytime soon; but since the recession, many designers have made a keen effort to start making their duds accessible to a wider demographic. One designer is Daryl K, the award-winning label of designer Darryl Kerrigan, who is known for her downtown aesthetic with an uptown price-tag.
Available later this month, Daryl K’s collaboration with the hip and affordable retailer Urban Outfitters is an opportunity to get expensive-looking clothes at prices that won’t leave you with Carrie Bradshaw-sized debt. The seven-piece collection features closet staples like leather pants, military jackets, and blouses; but each item is undeniably Daryl K. Sequins, minimal prints, and even a mesh dress are the perfect way to give holiday outfits a little downtown edge.
“The pieces are perfect for the ‘Urban’ girl,” Kerrigan explained. “I’m so happy to be able to get these great Daryl K clothes to some cool girls at a price they can afford.”
Daryl K is best known for her influence in 90s fashion, with followers like Sonic Youth’s front- woman Kim Gordon and fashion editor Camilla Nickerson. With price points from $59 to $139, everyone can look like a rock-star this season. Daryl K for Urban Outfitters will be for sale in Urban Outfitters stores and online in late November.
