Whiskey Advent Calendar

Well, it’s happened you guys… we are finally in the thick of the holiday season. With Thanksgiving right around the corner and the malls sneaking Christmas carols into the muzak rotation, the only solution I have is this: Drink. Drink heavily and drink often. Drink until the holidays are over! If you are worried about upsetting Grandma with your lushy behavior, there’s a great new spin on an old traditional favorite that will keep the peace in your household.
Remember Advent calendars? Starting on December 1st, you would open up the little door with the correct number and POOF, a piece of chocolate was right in the calendar for you to eat! I’d always make it to the 6th or 7th of December before I got buck wild and ate all the chocolates up till my birthday (the 19th). I’d reseal all the flaps so my mom wouldn’t notice, but she totally knew. I think she understood that I had a chip on my shoulder about having a birthday so close to Christmas, so she never called me out on it. It’s the little things, ya know?
Master of Malt, a British whiskey brand, has decided to let the adults have their fun with the holiday count-down and give the Advent calendar a grown up twist. Instead of pieces of candy, each day holds a 3cl shot of premium whiskey. No more crappy milk chocolate! Mmmm, holiday countdown.
Any whiskey-lover will be delighted to open the door to each day, knowing that behind each little flap is a 50 year old single malt Scotch. This is a great gift idea if you are looking to ensure that you get a damn good Christmas gift in return. It’s pretty pricey ($240.20); but if you’re able to swing it or get a couple of people to chip in with you, it’s definitely going to be one of the more memorable gifts to give this year. I’d suggest grabbing one now and gifting it to that special someone around Thanksgiving. Maybe put a little “I’m thankful for YOU… and whiskey” note on top… Wow, I really hope my dad isn’t reading this right now… GO AWAY DAD! YOU DIDN’T SEE NOTHIN’!
