Heineken Challenges Fans to Meet Someone From Every City

Listen up, all you social butterflies; this is sure to peek your interest. Recently, Heineken launched a challenge called “194 Countries. 14 Days. 1 City,” in an attempt to get some friendly dudes acquainted with some new international friends. Think of it like Around the World in 80 Days minus the traveling, and multiply the beer. The Dutch brewing company challenged two guys to meet someone from all 194 internationally recognized countries worldwide. But there were TWO catches: 1) they only have the first two weeks in December to complete the challenge. 2) They were not allowed to leave Amsterdam, the location of Heineken’s headquarters.
Sure, it seems like a mega-tall order, but the two guys went to Facebook in an attempt to enlist all the help they could possibly get. Their campaign used a highly social approach which encouraged fans to get involved and become a part of the global Heineken community. After all, what fun is it to watch these guys try to complete a challenge if you can’t help!?
Heineken encouraged many participants to send in their own names or the names of friends or family who would be in Amsterdam as a way of helping fans meet the guys. 194 countries sure is a tall order; but with the help of Heineken, it seemed like a reachable goal!
If you head over to their Facebook page, you can check out individual stories and even videos from the people they have met. You can even search specific profiles and countries! Also, you can learn about the two guys (who are named Barnaby and Mick) and interact with other Heineken fans online.
Sure, the competition is already finished, but it’s still a blast to see all the people they met! Mick and Barnaby fall just short of their goal, meeting only 153 people out of the 194 countries. I’m not mad, though; that’s impressive as hell! It totally gives new meaning to the saying “The world is in your backyard!”
