BANGSTYLE: When did you open your first salon?

Paul Watts: I opened my first salon on September 16th, 2011. This was the beginning of my hairdressing journey.

BANGSTYLE: What were your experiences in the industry prior to opening the salon?

Paul Watts: I started my own freelance business ‘House of Hair’. I then joined ‘BaaBaa Hair Salon’ where I built up my clientele. I also completed a number of courses, one of which was the Colour Mastery course that opened up a number of opportunities for me. The highlight of this was being invited to become a L’Oreal educator because of my colour knowledge.

BANGSTYLE: What was the inspiration to open Paul Watts Hairdressing?

Paul Watts: The inspiration was to create an environment that the clients could indulge in and receive bespoke colour applications.

BANGSTYLE: What is the vibe and décor like? What is on the playlist?

Paul Watts: The vibe is an eclectic mix of clean lines and industrialization, examples of this being doors used as stations and open brick work. The playlist is updated every month, with the newest rising artists and a selection of underground beats.

BANGSTYLE: What kind of client experience do you like to create?

Paul Watts: The client experience is something that must set the mood for what is about to follow. We like to welcome, consult, relax and create with the client leaving feeling happy.

BANGSTYLE: What is the clientele like?

Paul Watts: Over the salons we come across a varied clientele. We have month old babies, young professionals through to the older generation.

BANGSTYLE: Who or what inspires the work you create?

Paul Watts: What inspires me is catwalk trends, architecture, music genres and your everyday individual.

BANGSTYLE: Do you specialize in any look or cut in particular?

Paul Watts: On our salon menu, we have a service known as ‘the trend’. This gives us the freedom to specialize in the latest trends such as, Ombres and Balayage. When the trend shifts we pay attention and educate ourselves so we can offer the newest trends.

BANGSTYLE: What is Paul Watts Hairdressing known for?

Paul Watts: Paul Watts Hairdressing is known for its vast colour knowledge and its wearable cuts. It is renowned for its outstanding customer service.

BANGSTYLE: What do you look for in the stylists for the salon?

Paul Watts: The stylists in my salons must be friendly, interactive and confident in their craft. They must also be willing to carry on learning and participate in competitions.

BANGSTYLE: Any future plans or goal for the salon?

Paul Watts: I am in the process of opening my third salon and hope to continue extending the brand further. Continuing my journey and winning more awards are goals which I have set for myself and for the salon.
