F75d8d50cb1549068d32 slick bob

The sleek bob — what some call “the slob” — is a cut experts say will be everywhere this summer. Returning to classic cutting with an effortlessly undone feel, the sleek bob has texture built in through notching, slicing and fanning cutting techniques and is finished with a polished blow-dry and a slight bend to give off the appearance of being tucked behind the ear — a classic Rachel styling move.

The blended name, The Slob, was coined by George Northwood, known for creating some of the most famous modern-day bobs on celebs and socialites such as Alexa Chung, Claire Foy, Daisy Edgar Jones and Princess Olympia of Greece.

The key to creating the look starts with the cut and then comes down to the style. The line of the slob is heavy and falls in a single length. This look doesn’t typically feature a fringe and instead opts for a bang area that falls in line with the longest lengths.

Styling the look:

While this cut can look beautiful on all hair types, the sleek bob was made to be worn with a smooth finish and undone bends. Unlike other bob haircut trends of late, this look is about minimal volume. To get the look, rough dry hair and use little elevation to smooth, if needed. Then, tuck hair behind the ears or finish with a flat iron and a curling tong to create barely-there bends and a hint of movement.
