Fair warning, you might just want to book your next salon appointment now! Looking for a little hair inspiration as the seasons change? From cuts to style - Karen Thomson, Owner of KAM Hair and Body Spa and current Scottish Hairdresser of the Year breaks down some of her latest looks that will have you craving a change!

1. Blunt Bob

The blunt bob is the cut of 2019 and with this style, it was all about emphasizing this gorgeous cut and ensuring it looked super sleek. Hot irons were used to smooth down the hair cuticle for a smoother and straighter appearance and were followed by applying some of Matrix’s Biolage SmoothProof Hair Serum to ensure there were no flyaways and for added shine. I also parted the models fringe into two, creating a curtain fringe that is so on-trend at the moment and really draws you into the models look.

2. Soft Waves

With this look, it was all about creating soft, yet textured cascading waves. The hair was prepped with Matrix heat buffer to ensure the hair was protected from the use of heated styling tools and also to add body, volume, and control to the hair. The hair was then curled using the GHD platinum+  to create the perfect u-shaped curls before brushing out to give the hair a more natural appearance. I then spritzed some Matrix Raw Texturizing Spray into the style, paying particular attention to the roots to texturize the hair and create a voluminous, full-bodied style.

3. Textured Updo

I love this textured, braided updo. Prior to styling into the updo, the hair was crimped to add texture and to give the hair volume. Then, using large sections starting at the front of the head, I created a Dutch braid, taking it down to the nape of the neck before rolling in and pinning into place. The key to this look is that it looked slightly effortless, so once the braid was complete, I pulled out some sections of the hair to give it a looser and softer finish. When creating the braid I also did not pull too tight and avoided being to ‘neat’ to ensure it looked effortless.

4. Slick Height

With this look, it was all about creating height. The model's hair was firstly backcombed underneath using a backcombing brush paying particular attention to the top of the head and the root area. After backcombing, the top section of the hair was then brushed over the backcombed section creating a quiff like style that was smooth in appearance and pinned into place. The look was then finished off with Matrix Style Link Style Fixer Finishing Spray for lasting hold and to add shine.

5. Cropped Shag

Less was more with this look as the model's hair cut was already short and quirky. The hair was finger dried to roughen up the style and give it an instant style update.

6. Natural Chic

Natural, volumised and textured looks are the style of the season and this style definitely is all that. The hair was firstly waved to create movement and was then brushed out and teased at the ends to give a thicker and more blown-out appearance to the hair.
