If you’ve decided to add bridal styling to your service menu it’s a good idea to have a variety of styles in your repertoire. The dress, venue, season or overall vibe of your bride can impact how they wish to wear their hair and it could be anything from boho, romantic, traditional, alternative, urban…and vintage — one of the hottest wedding categories. Adding to your list of go-to styles, Twylla Jane, Sam Villa Ambassador and owner of Lumos Nox Salon @twyllajane  shares a short and sweet how-to for creating vintage-inspired 3D waves that are perfect for a romantic vintage bride.

How-to: Vintage-Inspired 3D Waves

  1. Spiral wrap sections of hair around the Sam Villa Artist Series 2-in-1 Marcel Iron and Wand.

  2. Secure each section with a dry sectioning clip and allow hair to cool. Pinning will set each curl, causing expansion and a 3D appearance when you brush them out.

  3. Gently remove clips and let curls fall loosely.

  4. Brush each section with a Sam Villa Artist Series Finishing Brush, spray hair lightly with Redken Fashion Work 12, and use the hairspray can to help sculpt the valley of the waves.

  5. Place the dry sectioning clips in the valley part of the wave. Let rest for five or more minutes.

  6. Remove clips, backcomb at the scalp for added support and brush to smooth waves in place.
