We are thrilled to partner with the Professional Beauty Association (PBA) to promote all the talented artists who are finalists for the 2015 NAHAs (North American Hairstyling Awards), the most prestigious hair and beauty award in the country. We had the honor of interviewing friend and Bangstyle Artist, one of this year’s finalists in the “Men’s Hairstyling of the Year“ category, Paul Pereira . Check out our exclusive interview with Paul and get the scoop on his inspiration and what he’d do if he were to take home the NAHA Award.

Tell us a bit about your nominated collection this year. What was the inspiration behind the looks?
Our overall look was  "London mode.” Contrasting tweeds and plaids giving us a classic Burberry look; the hair is longer and has more movement but still classic, staying away from strong undercuts, fades and hard parts.

Were there collections in other categories that you found inspiring or particularly appealing?
I love the work in all categories but particularly the “Editorial” category.

Your collections always have such strong striking visual appeal, what is your creative process to get there?
My creative team and I are always inspired by everything ( fashion, music and people watching). We are always striving to introduce new trends or looks and to create images that make you “feel.”

How will you celebrate a win this year?
Well, there is no better place to celebrate...( Las Vegas )

Coming off a well-deserved win in this category last year, how did you approach your collection this year?
Winning and attending my first NAHA AWARDS was so inspiring, that I couldn't wait to get back in the studio!

What appeals to you most about competition work?
I love everything about it! Pushing yourself, the creativity, and the recognition from your peers.

What is the most surprising thing you’ve discovered about the hair industry?
That there is so much more than being behind the chair.

What non-hair related areas do you  constantly find yourself taking inspiration from?
Architecture.

What is the one tool and/or product you can't live without?
Tail comb.

If you hadn't found Hairdressing, what do you imagine you'd be doing instead?
I would be a architect.
