After an unprecedented year mostly spent at home, it’s safe to say that we’re all looking forward to the new year, a change in season, and the beauty trends that come with it. With Spring in sight, everything from fashion to beauty will see splashes of color miraculously appear. Whether you’re donning a bold lip and a pastel lid for your daily dog walk or fully committing to changing your shade to a vibrant hue for all future Zoom calls, these are some of the most beautiful and colorful shades, cut and style trends that we can’t wait to see this season as predicted by Goldwell Colorist and Fellowship Project Colour Team Safy Burton

Color Trends

Transitional Pastels and Vibrant Statements

Pandemic pink was one of the top breakout colors of 2020 and as we begin 2021 and approach spring, we’ll see a continue of this shade as well as other pastel and vibrant toned shades. Shades such as mint green, lilac, rose and peach will be the top four trending pastel shades this season. Also expect to see a great deal of grey and yellow (in light of Pantone's Ultimate Grey and Illuminating Color of the Year) come through in bold tones or with hints of cool (grey) or warm (gold) hints. It’s all about the light and fresh atmospheric vibe.

Cosy Copper

Before the lockdown, there was a huge demand for beautiful and rich copper tones. These have been hugely popular throughout winter and will stay on-trend well into the summer months, gradually becoming lighter and more subtle as we transition into autumn. Looking for a way to upgrade your go-to red shade? Glowing copper will be the it-colour of the year for redheads!

Natural Hues

It was amazing to see clients embrace their natural hair colour and texture throughout 2020. It’s something many clients are hesitant to try during their normal day-to-day life, however during lockdown this was needed and became very popular! Those who embraced their grey hair will continue this trend into 2021 and will get much more creative when it comes to the cut and shape of their hair. Working with what you’ve got makes things much more exciting and unique!

Styling & Cut Trends

Movement

You guessed it, movement and natural curls are back for 2021 and I could not be more excited! Clients will be looking to add some choppy layers and textured cuts to give different dimensions and movement throughout their look, others will embrace their natural curls and look to make them bigger and beautiful once more.

Short & Sharp

For those with shorter styles, it’s time to get creative. Sharp cuts with strong base lines will be super popular featuring lots of texture throughout the top, back and sides.
