For many clients, choosing a copper hair color can take them out of their comfort zone. However, copper is a hair colour that is much more versatile than clients may think. It all comes down to the undertones of a shade and making it personalised to individualized skin tones. Whether you want a striking, vibrant colour or something more muted for a subtle feel, 2022 is the perfect time to introduce this colour palette for those looking for something a little spicier.

Trending Shades: Copper Tones

Detailing some of the top colours, The HOB Creative Team choose their three favourite coppers seen this summer and as we head into autumn.

Carrot

A bright orange jam-packed with warmth, and vibrancy and gives off a healthy feel. This shade is best worn on clearer, golden and universal complexions. If you have more of an olive skin tone, your colourist can opt for a small amount of red or mahogany in the mixture. This helps to cool down the tone slightly and enhance your facial canvas.

Hot Paprika

Vibrant, punchy with added depth, this shade works amazingly with all skin tones. You can easily play up orange, yellow and mahogany (warmth mixed with cool) to highlight any undertones. It’s a shade most can pull off and for those with more olive or universal complexions, I would also recommend a small amount of violet. This will give an added richness to the colour and as it lightens when washing it will not look as faded next to your skin.

Amber Gold

Luxurious, luminous and light reflective, it’s the perfect shade for warmer/darker blondes wanting a revamp. This is a super-simple yet effective way to try something new that is low commitment and doesn’t involve a huge colour change. Apply over existing highlights or create a colour conditioning treatment that will deposit the Amber Gold tone over time from root to ends. This tone is better suited for fair tones. Although it can still be tailored for darker hair by pre-lightening first. This option is slightly higher maintenance but still just as achievable.
