Dry, chapped, irritated? We're talking about our skin, of course. As we move into the warmer months, rising temps, sun exposure, and humidity bring their own set of challenges. But with the right products, you can keep your skin balanced, glowing, and breakout-free all season long. If you're ready to refresh your routine, we’ve got just the picks.

Dry Skin 101: How to Treat It & The Products to Invest In

The Woes of Dry Skin

On a recent trip, where I spent far too much time on airplanes and not enough time hydrating, my skin really took a toll. And when I tried to fix it, everything seemed to come up short. Plus, the more I tried to hide it, with my hydrating foundation — the worse I looked. To save you precious time and dermis layers I’m laying out what I wish I had done differently from the start.

The Steps To Reverse Dry Skin

1. Hydrate 24-48 Hours Prior to Flying

While I hydrated adequately on my flights, I really wish I had prepped my travel with some serious hydration beforehand. But, last-minute packing…amirite?

2. Invest in a Special Formula

I’m not going to lie - I didn’t prepare properly. I ran out of my go-to before leaving, so before takeoff I grabbed the first moisturizer I saw at DutyFree. In hindsight, I should have packed something with a punch. In a pinch, I did something you’re not really supposed to do and applied La Roche Posay Cicaplast all over my face - mostly because I was peeling — and because I really was just that uncomfortable.

3. Layer Up During Boarding

While I am all for taking less things on the plane, one thing I would definitely stash in my carryon is some sort of face mask or extra moisturizing face cream + eye cream. Honestly, who cares if I look silly, there is no shame in taking extra care of your skin on your flight. I suggest you layer it on, and reapply mid-flight.

4. Replenish After Landing

Depending on the duration of your flight, you might be absolutely exhausted, but I highly recommend applying your full skincare regimen as soon as you land, and even repeating before sleep. In addition to hydrating, washing off the buildup from your flight and replenishing it with fresh ingredients is ideal to jumpstart your post-flight glow. If you can, get some exercise in as well or simply massage your face with an oil to stimulate blood flow and release muscle tension.
