I’m convinced that at some point in our lives, every one of us has longed for bangs. They are just so fun and beautiful, it’s no wonder why it’s so easy to develop a major crush on them. But, for the average person, it’s a big jump into a completely new look, which can be a little daunting. So what’s a girl to do? Quietly obsess over photos on the internet?? While we’re never one to discourage fawning over gorgeous hair images, we wanted to take our shot at helping you to answer the age old question, “Will I look good with Bangs?”

The first thing to consider is that getting bangs will be a change. It’s not necessarily something that you can just do on a whim, especially if you want to be happy with them - which you should! NEVER cut them yourself. I know it’s tempting…there are some scissors, and there’s your hair, it’ll be so easy. It’s also extremely easy to go from quick snip to “Disaster City” so please, let your hairstylist do it. They’ll be excited to be a part of your transformation and they’ll have some great insight into which styles would be best for you.

Keep in mind is that while bangs will be a different look for you visually, it’s a different style for your hair too. You most likely are not wearing your hair down over your face everyday (unless you live in a well and are preying on people through their televisions) so it will take a bit of time to train your hair to fall into the style you want. This means more work in the mornings to style it, and blow-drying. You can also sleep in a headband to help hold your bangs in place and set the new style.

You should also know that Bangs provide a frame your face. This means certain features might be accentuated by default, so you may want to change your makeup style.

“Got it! But, what Bangs will look good on ME?”

If you have a longer face, bangs are a great style for you because they will shorten the face, providing more width. “Long bangs” are a good choice here.

Oval faces can essentially get away with any style of bangs. If you have an oval shaped face go for it and get a “heavy bang”.

If you have a rounder face, you can use bangs to make your face appear more oval. “Wispy bangs” are perfect here because they will show more forward, adding length to your face.

Heart shaped faces look best with “blunt bangs”, cut just below the eyebrow, which will cover the forehead and soften a pointed chin.

If your face is more squared, go with Long Wispy Angled Bangs. This will be very flattering for your face and draw the eye in diagonally.

If you do take the plunge and decide that you are not happy with your new bangs, do not worry! There are plenty of ways to hide them that just so happen to also be really on-trend. You can braid them off to the side, stick them up into a Faux-Hawk, or even slick them back for a posh wet look. As your bangs grow back out, there are heaps of gorgeous styles you can try along the way so you won’t ever have to wallow in that awkward stage.
