Ellen Devine, Education Artistic Director for Redken shared this gem of a braid with Sam Villa, Founder of Sam Villâ Professional. He then, as inspiring artists do, wanted to share it with others as an inspiration for the braid season to come! Take a peek at his video tutorial and follow along with the steps below!
Infinity Braid How To
- Prep hair with the Sam Villa Signature Series Textur Professional Texturizing Iron to increase the thickness of hair (resulting in a thicker braid) and to ensure the braid does not fall out throughout the day.
- Gather hair into a low ponytail and split it in half down the center. Hold one part with the right hand and the other with the left. Similar to a fishtail braid, take a small section of hair from the right side and cross it over the right section directly next to it.
- Cross the hair under the left section and wrap it around and over the left section. Then take it under and around the right section – in a figure 8 pattern.
- Continue by crossing the same section of hair OVER the right section, UNDER the left section, then OVER the left section and back UNDER the right section. When hair runs out, pick up from the outside of either section and add it to the original section and continue the figure 8 pattern, repeating and adding hair as needed until the end.
Finish the look by tying it off with a hair elastic. We love the Infinity Braid and what's great about it is that you can create it with layered hair too. We encourage you to try this braid at home or in the salon and when you do post your photos on Instagram and tag #samvilla and #SVinfinitybraid so we can see your creations!
