Braids are one of those styles that should be a staple in every girl’s arsenal. Braids can fix bedhead in a pinch, offer as a solid way to keep hair in place during a workout, help grow bangs out through the “awkward phase”, and create a unique point of interest in any style. As each season unfolds, we are lucky enough to be opened up to a plethora of new styles from around the world. Check out some of our favorite ways to wear braids this season, below.
The Braided Ponytail – Instead of pulling hair into a ponytail and creating a braid, creating braids along the scalp into a free-flowing ponytail has reversed this idea. This is a great option for all hair types and textures and can be varied for individual lengths and desired outcome. Simply spray strands with Texturising Volume Spray prior to braiding to add volume and grit and Wax Spray to give hold to your braids.
The Accent Braid – Intermittently placing braids within your style – weather up down, in a pony or a messy bun – can add extra drama and a unique vibe to any style. Seen here, a braided part was transformed into a face-framing side-swept braid.
The Artistic Braid – Taking your hair to a new level of fierce, by mixing and matching on scalp braid types and sizes. Feel free to pull tendrils out, add volume and a new part, within your work of art.
Add an Accessory – The holidays seem to be all about accessories. Being able to dress up your braids to feel as festive as the season is the icing on the cake! We love this braided scarf look created using the label.m Mary Katrantzou scarf and would love to see how it translates this season alongside chunky sweaters and cozy jackets.
