It’s not every day that a high-performance technology brand digs its hands into the soil to cultivate its next big idea. But Dyson, known for revolutionizing the beauty industry with its high-tech hair tools, has done just that. This summer, they’ve introduced the Dyson Omega™ Nourishing Collection—a new haircare line rooted (quite literally) in both scientific innovation and sustainable farming.
Blending over a decade of hair science with agricultural expertise, the Dyson Omega™ line is a thoughtful response to one of the most persistent hair concerns: dryness. Rather than masking damage, this collection aims to nourish from within, combining natural omega-rich ingredients with advanced formulation science to deliver long-lasting results.
Where Beauty Meets Farming
It all began on Dyson’s own farms in Lincolnshire, UK. Established in 2012, Dyson Farming has since become one of Britain’s largest agricultural enterprises, growing everything from potatoes to sunflowers —-with over 800,000 sunflowers grown not only for their beauty, but for their function in haircare. Selected for their omega 6 & 9 and natural ceramide content, and because it deeply moisturizes and protects the hair while absorbing quickly and without build-up.
This sunflower oil, harvested straight from Dyson Farming’s nine-hectare sunflower fields, is the cornerstone of the new collection. It joins six other natural oils—including avocado, olive, and abyssinian—in the Dyson Oli7™ blend, the signature ingredient powering the Omega™ line.
Inside the Dyson Omega™ Collection
The collection includes two meticulously developed products: a Hydrating Hair Oil and a Leave-In Conditioning Spray. Both are silicone-free and engineered to suit all hair types—from straight and fine to curly and coily.
Hydrating Hair Oil
More than just a shine booster, this silicon-free concentrated oil seals in moisture, restores brittle strands, and smooths frizz without the heavy residue typical of traditional oils. Its biotechnology-infused oil complex ensures quick absorption, providing immediate hydration and a silky finish.
Leave-In Conditioning Spray
An 8-in-1 multitasker, this featherlight mist tackles detangling, frizz reduction, UV and heat protection, breakage control, and moisture retention. It starts as a gel-like cream in the bottle and transforms into a fine mist on application—thanks to a custom-designed spray mechanism created by Dyson engineers for even distribution.
Both products carry a subtle, multi-layered scent—sparkling citrus green tea and bergamot on first spray, followed by comforting jasmine and rose, with deeper notes of cedarwood and oak moss that mirrors the Dyson Chitosan styling collection™.
Science with a Soul
Dyson’s approach to haircare has always been anchored in science. Their team of scientists and engineers studies the hair from root to tip, attending hair styling courses and conducting tests in labs across nine countries. But with Omega™, there’s a softer, more grounded narrative—a return to nature and sustainability.
“Omega is the first Dyson product to feature an ingredient grown on Dyson Farms. Engineered for all hair types, it solves the problem of dry, tangled, frizzy hair using natural ingredients which we grow ourselves. Looking ahead, we continue to pioneer new ways to improve hair health through the application of innovation, technology and ingredient science.”

Sustainability Beyond the Bottle
The beauty of the Omega™ line isn’t just in the formula—it’s in the farming. Dyson’s agricultural model emphasizes environmental responsibility, from soil regeneration to zero-waste energy solutions. Sunflowers used in the products are nurtured with precision farming techniques, including soil micronutrient balancing and variety trials to ensure the highest quality oil.
In addition to this Dyson Farming is a top five producer of wheat grains, malting barley, oil seeds, peas and potatoes¹ in the UK. It also rears sheep and cattle. The business grows British strawberries out of season in its state-of-the-art 26-acre glasshouse. The glasshouse is adjacent to one of Dyson Farming’s anaerobic digesters which enables the year-round strawberry production. ¹Reported in a Financial Times article, dated 15.11.2024
Crops from the surrounding fields are fed into the digester and broken down by micro-organisms creating gas which drives a generator providing Green Electricity—which powers the equivalent of 10,000 homes and heat—which is piped into the glasshouse, along with CO2, to provide optimal growing conditions for strawberries all year round. Finally, the waste digestate goes back onto the land as organic fertilizer to increase crop yields.
Even the packaging reflects Dyson’s design sensibility. After trialing 112 different bottles a weighty glass bottle for the oil was chose to prevent spills. While a bespoke spray system for the mist, proving that functionality and elegance can coexist.
The Omega™ Nourishing Collection closes the gap on knowing where your beauty products come from and how they’re made. For those seeking healthy, nourished, and radiant hair—without the heaviness of silicones —this farm-to-formula solution is the haircare you didn’t even know you needed.
