Fashion month has officially begun and as we get excited for a new season of trends both on and off the runway, we can expect to see new styles popping up in salons everywhere! Keep reading to see the latest styles fresh off the catwalk and the steps to get the looks!

Tory Burch SS20

Officially bringing the hair comb back,Tory Burch + Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau has made this vintage accessory cool again. The overall vibe of this show was an homage to a humble luxurious quality indicative of London sub culture in the 80s - very Lady Di. To create this look with ease, and a bit of irony, Palau custom spray painted the hair clips to match the designs. “The hair at Tory Burch is simultaneously a nod to the 40s and the 80s at the same time. There’s a nod to Princess Diana – even though it’s an American designer, it reminds me of a well-heeled English woman who would groom her hair every morning. This look is a fun, boyish spin on that while still being very feminine and proper. It’s a collection of all very Tory things: very feminine, and very fun. We made these clips just for the show. I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t find colored clips anywhere so we had to buy them and I sprayed them different colors. My key product is the NEW! Redken Extreme Play Safe to heat protect hair while I’m blow-drying.” – Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau

Although usually known for his evening wear, his “model-off-duty” style came in strong at his SS20 presentation - a welcomed changed that the crown went crazy for. Dressed hugged the feminine physique and blazers and slouchy knit sweaters went perfectly over jeans and shorts. Our favorite takeaway had to be the belter blazer - tres chic! We’re sure to see this trend all over the sidewalks come spring. The hair, created by Cutler Hair Lead Bob Recine was smooth and oh so perfectly chic!

“This look is very American, think Montauk or Cape Cod style with airy, sleek hair and lots of volume. While the hair is straight, it has lots of life thanks to Redken Full Frame 07 and NEW! Redken Triple Pure 32, which gives us volume and hold, with lightness and movement. The true essence of this look is casual beauty and confidence.” – Cutler Hair Lead Bob Recine

For the beauty, Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau took the hair back a few decades. "We’re here at the Longchamp show where the hair is inspired by 90s minimalism. Models donned tulle designs that were literally their weight in fabric.

“We’re here at the Marc Jacobs store on Madison Avenue for Tomo Koizumi’s SS20 presentation. It’s a highly conceptualized presentation, and I’ve done the hair to match: I’ve created incredibly high hair in a cone shape using the NEW! Redken Triple Pure 32 Hairspray. The great thing about this hairspray is that it has a neutral fragrance, so it doesn’t overpower when you’re backstage or if you have a picky client. I’ve also used one of my backstage favorites, Redken Guts 10, for volume and added hold. If there is one thing Jeffrey Rüdes for L’AGENCE knows, its what fabrics to pair with distinct markets. Consumers usually shop based on mood and the vibe of where they reside, and Rüdes knows exactly what he’s doing when it comes to this. Giving everyday looks a little something “extra”, his SS20 show for L’AGENCE opted for rose print and belted shirt dresses, and a variety of silhouettes that are always pleasing to the consumer. Inspired by adventures in Italy, we could easily see anyone donning these resort town vibes come spring and summer. An ease to the collection, the hair was consistent with this and a side of chic!

“The inspiration for this look is an elegant 1960’s South of France vibe. Imagine a girl in a convertible heading to St. Tropez wearing a headscarf to protect her hair from the wind. She’s very chic, so of course, her hair needs to be shiny, polished and elegant, but at the same time she has a cool and casual attitude.” – Cutler Hair Lead Rudy Martins

MARKGONG SS20

With juxtaposed textures, styles, and a mix of fabrics, the MARKGONG SS20 show did not disappoint. The looks - laid back and some even equipped with backpacks - echoed a cutting edge vibe of present day social trends. A modernization of 90s culture mixed with an ease of aesthetic. Redken Brand Ambassador and Cutler Hair Lead Rodney Cutler explains to us more about the look and the inspiration behind the hair design.

“I created a couple of different looks to complement the beautiful colors and patterns featured in the MARKGONG SS20 collection. The first look is all about lived-in texture that’s light, airy and looks like it’s floating when you walk. From there, we added in a few deconstructed up-dos, where we worked with each model’s natural hairline and mimicked an effortless style you would almost create yourself at home. To round out the styles, we finished with braids for an ultra-cool vibe.”  – Redken Brand Ambassador and Cutler Hair Lead Rodney Cutler

Step 4: Recreate step 3, this time applying Redken Velvet Gelatine blended with Redken All Soft Argan-6 Oil onto targeted areas to add moisture, shine and create the illusion of lived-in look with spots of dampness.

Step 5: To style, create a side part and let your hair hang naturally or create a deconstructed top knot by combing hair forward and twisting onto the top of the head. Let the ends of the hair hang over the face before securing with bobby pins.

Step 6: If needed, add a few spritzes of the NEW! Redken Triple Pure 32 hairspray to hold the look.

During the 1960’s Japanese youth made quite the fashion statement by mimicking the preppy vibes of Ivy League Americans and the PH5 SS20 runway is an ode of just that. When it came to the hair, Redken Brand Ambassador and Cutler Hair Lead Rodney Cutler felt inspired by the collection to add a bit of geometry to the looks. “The bright colors and detailed patterns in the collection inspired me to create a geometric look.” He said. “There is so much beauty in geometry and the strong bangs and glossy hair really bring that to life.
