In this feature get to know more about this year's Styling & Finishing Finalist, Diana Skrabanek.

With only 4 weeks until the deadline, Diana Skrabanek decided to enter the 2017 NAHA’s and we’re so glad that she did! Her beautiful styling gracefully portrays all of the things we love so much about classic styling – clean lines and beautiful looks. Read on to learn more about the collection from this talented artist.

How did you dream this collection up?

I was excited to enter this new category of Styling and Finishing and wanted to create a modern take on simplicity.

What story are you telling with your collection?

The graphic and colorful eyeliner led me to mirror the subtle edge in the hair. I wanted to create almost wearable looks for the young socialite.

If you were to describe your collection in one word, what would it be?

Slick.

What was the inspiration behind this collection?

I was inspired by beauty editorials. I wanted to keep the hair as clean as possible with a modern finish.

What was your biggest challenge?

I decided to do this shoot four weeks before the entry deadline, so the biggest challenge was getting everyone on board on such short notice.

What is your favorite aspect of styling and finishing?

The more you work the hair, the more the imagination runs wild with possibilities. I love styling hair!

How did you select your team? Have you worked with them before?

My photographer, Nico Nordstrom, was amazing to work with on my collection last year. I had to have her again. My makeup artist, Jonathan Krugman, is a colleague and is amazingly talented.  I love my team and am so happy they were able to collaborate.

Tell us a little more about you, as an artist.

I am a young talent and am still growing as an artist. I am a cutting specialist behind the chair. I have also had the opportunity to work backstage at New York Fashion Week for several seasons and love the energy of working backstage. I look forward to New York in September!

How do you Vegas?

I plan to hit the pool as early as possible for a last minute tan. Then, it is off to find the best brunch in town.

Salty or sweet?

Sweet is always the way to my heart.

What did you learn about yourself through creating this collection?

Don’t doubt yourself for any reason. Since I shot so close to the deadline, I was afraid that the material would not be well thought out and cohesive to form a collection. However, with a great team, we were able to create something I am extremely proud of, and it all came together beyond my expectations.
