All hair types and textures can experience frizz. That’s because frizz is caused by a lack of moisture a.k.a dry hair. While you might notice it more around certain times of the year or in specific climates — it’s a challenge for any type, texture, and length. While lack of moisture is one of the biggest culprits, using the wrong products/tools and not drying or diffusing hair properly can also create frizz. To get a handle on it before the holidays, Evie Rivera, Sam Villa Ambassador and Redken Artist @eviedzine, shares her tips for the issue at hand.
The Top Tips for Reducing Frizzy Hair
- Moisture and Protein: It’s imperative to use the proper shampoo, conditioner and styling products, whether it's protein for highlighted hair or moisture for thick or curly hair. Each product is designed to nourish and protect hair, and together work to encourage the cuticle to lay flat and reduce frizz.
- Tools: Larger curl patterns should not use a brush when drying, yet straighter hair might need it for maximum smoothing.
