Be sure to tune in on Monday, August 31 for an event dedicated to expanding your textured hair education behind the chair.

Wella joins partner Keya Neal forRepHAIRations” – a digital education event dedicated to teaching hairstylists how to properly cut, style and color highly textured hair.

Event Details:

  • The event will feature education seminars hosted by Black and white artists and educators, Wella’s top artists among them, covering how to cut, color, care and style all hair types – defined as “fabric,” not by texture or race.
  • Each ticket purchased will award a complimentary ticket to a person of color.
  • All the proceeds will be donated to Until Freedom, Catrice Jackson’s Harriet’s Dream and The Black Student Relief Fund.

Sponsoring repHAIRations is one part of a bigger diversity effort that Wella initiated earlier this summer. The Wella brands (Wella Professionals, NIOXIN, Sebastian Professional, Clairol Professional and Wella Color Charm) have committed to a two-part approach to helping close the gap and repair the disparities that exist within the industry. Efforts include Wella brand portfolio initiatives, as well as individual brand actions and, are informed by recent hairdresser research.

  1. Representation within the internal organization, as well as externally by featuring more diverse hair types and a diversity of expert partners in each brands’ social, PR and advertising content. This also includes fostering relationships with more Black, LatinX and Asian hairdressers and showcasing their work.
  2. Championing equality by creating access to more Education and job opportunities for all hairdressers. In July, Wella hosted the “Fractured, not Broken” virtual fundraiser to support the Professional Beauty Association's COVID-19 Relief Fund and The Loveland Foundation, supporting Black women and girls. And, in July, Wella and family of pro beauty brands donated $250,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
