Move over beachy blonde—summer 2025 is all about copper. Leaning into this trend, Jennifer Love Hewitt just jumped on board with her vibrant new shade. The actress debuted a stunning "Sunset Lover" red hair color created by celebrity hairstylist Nikki Lee, and it’s everything we love about the copper hair trend: radiant, bold, and effortlessly chic.

After years of soft blonde and brunette tones, Hewitt's transformation to copper marks a dramatic (and totally on-trend) shift. And it couldn’t come at a hotter moment—copper hair color is dominating summer 2025 beauty trends, and you’re about to see if everywhere.

Crushing on Copper: Why Everyone’s Obsessed

“Summer’s hottest trend is definitely copper red,” says Nikki Lee, the celebrity stylist and Wella Professionals Global Ambassador behind Jennifer’s new look. “Chic and sexy at the same time, this color makes every woman feel her best.”

While Jennifer had been dreaming about going red for a while, work commitments delayed the switch. Now, with a perfect window of time, she finally took the plunge—and it was worth the wait.

To create the dimensional, sun-kissed copper shade, Nikki used Wella Professionals products for depth, warmth, and lasting shine. Here's how the transformation came to life:

The Formulas:

  • Base: Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect – .50oz 7/0, .75oz 7/34, splash of 7/43 with 20 volume
  • Mids: Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect .50oz 7/0 .75oz 7/34 splash 7/43 with 30 volume (same as base), but with 30 volume
  • Hairline: Wella Professionals Koleston 7/34 + 8/0 with 20 volume
  • Balayage: Lightened using Wella Professionals Blondorplex with 30 volume at the shampoo bowl
  • Gloss: Wella Professionals Color Touch – .75oz 8/43, .50oz 9/3, .25oz 9/0, .25oz clear with 13 volume

To enhance the look, Nikki added Great Lengths extensions in custom blends (Color 31, 72, 5, 28) for an effortlessly voluminous finish.

Then, to really finish the look, Nikki added a final touch of Wella Professionals ULTIMATE SMOOTH Miracle Oil Serum to create a glossy, frizz-free finish worthy of summer red carpet moments.

Pro tip: Ask your colorist for a blend of copper-gold and auburn tones to mirror Jennifer’s multidimensional finish. Bonus points for balayage and regular Shinefinity glaze appointments to keep it glowing.
