Milica Shishalica’s latest collection highlights her artistic ability in “Shades of Blue”, she transforms hair much like an artist working on a canvas - in this collection she gives her audience a colorful treat. Hear about her process, her inspiration, and what it took to bring this collection to life!

How did you come up with the concept behind this collection? How did the creative process unfold?

I came up with the concept spontaneously, as with most of my collections. I got in contact with Marina Markovic ( www.marinamarkovic.com ), great artist from Serbia who lives and works in New York. I wanted to do a shoot with her because of her energy, so basically you can say this was a starting point.

What was your inspiration for this collection?

I am surrounded with my baby's stuff, books, clothing, toys, so one day it just came to me to use these gentle, pastel colors in my new collection.

What was your biggest challenge in bringing this collection to life?

We had a problem with the shipping of the colors I wanted to use for shooting. It took around two months for them to be delivered from New York to Serbia.

What was your favorite aspect of this shoot?

It was fun!

How did you develop your style as an artist?

With hard work, passion and devotion. I've been working as a hair designer for over ten years now. I came across many obstacles in the way and sacrificed a lot to became what I am today.

Are you artistic outside the realm of hair?

I live with an artist, so I live as an artist. I love art in every way and as a hobby I paint and edit photos. My wish is to learn more about photography, so recently I acquired studio lighting and now I am getting better at this, finally.

If you could have a super power what would it be and why?

To work and have as many children as I want :)

What is the one tool and/or product you can't live without?

Scissors and comb of course.

What hair trend are you loving right now?

Pastel hair

What other areas of beauty do you draw inspiration from?

I don't look at it that way, I draw my inspiration from nature, my family and small, unnoticed things.

How did you know you wanted to be a stylist?

As a child I wanted to became hairdresser or stripper. It's good that I chose the first choice :)

What has been your biggest accomplishment so far, and how did you get there?

For me, every success is the biggest. Without all of them put together, I would have accomplished nothing.

What does this collection mean to you?

One more collection in my portfolio that I am proud of.

What is your favorite way to wear your hair?

Better not to know :)
